Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as "Dr. Seuss," was a beloved author of children's books for decades. However, many people may not know how he passed away.

Geisel was born on March 2, 1904, to Henrietta and Theodor Robert Geisel in Springfield, Massachusetts. His father owned and ran the family brewery.

On September 24, 1991, at the age of 87 years old, Geisel passed away in his sleep at his home in La Jolla, California. His death was attributed to natural causes.

Geisel had a long and successful career as an author and illustrator of children's books. He wrote more than sixty books during his lifetime that have since become classics that are still enjoyed by generations today.

His works include "The Cat in the Hat," "Green Eggs and Ham," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" and many others which have sold millions of copies worldwide.

Geisel's legacy lives on through his iconic characters that continue to inspire young readers today with their messages about friendship, kindness, courage and perseverance.

In conclusion, Theodor Seuss Geisel died peacefully in his sleep due to natural causes on September 24th ,1991 at the age of 87 years old leaving behind a rich literary legacy that will continue to entertain children for generations to come.
