According to a recent survey conducted by investment platform StashAway, Singaporean women are outperforming men in cryptocurrency trades. The study found that women made up 55% of the platform's investors who traded cryptocurrencies and experienced an average net return of 19.2%, compared to men who had an average net return of 17.8%.
The survey also revealed that crypto investments were more popular among women than men as 24% of females surveyed allocated more than 20% of their portfolios to cryptocurrencies, compared to only 19% for males.
Michele Ferrario, CEO and co-founder of StashAway said: "It's encouraging to see female investors leading the way when it comes to investing in this asset class."
Ferrario attributed the trend partially due to better risk management practices among women as they tend not to be overconfident or impulsive while trading.
Despite these findings, the overall number of Singaporeans investing in cryptocurrencies remains relatively low with only around one-third having any exposure at all according to another survey conducted last year by cryptocurrency exchange Gemini.
As digital assets continue gaining prominence globally, it is expected that more people will look towards them for investment opportunities. With this study revealing the success rate amongst female traders; we may see even more interest from Singaporean women looking for alternative ways into financial markets.
