NYPD Orders Full Uniform for Every Officer as Precautionary Measure Following Trump’s Indictment

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has ordered every member of its 36,000-strong force to report in full uniform on Friday morning as a “precautionary measure” following the indictment of former President Donald Trump. The move comes after a Manhattan grand jury voted on Thursday to indict Trump for his alleged role in paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Trump sparked concerns about potential violence earlier this month when he called on his supporters to protest and “take our nation back” in anticipation of his indictment. Steel barricades were put up outside the Manhattan Criminal Court and the Manhattan district attorney's offices last week, as the city braced for potential unrest.

Although there were no credible threats reported, discussions between the NYPD and FBI have focused on possible threats to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his staff, courthouse security, and potential protests outside of the courthouse. The police department said it will respect First Amendment rights but won't tolerate property damage or violence.

Even detectives who usually dress in plain clothes are expected to wear their full uniform as the city prepares for any unrest. More law enforcement officers will also patrol all five boroughs.

Critics say that ordering every officer regardless of rank or assignment is politically motivated and weaponizes U.S. justice system while others argue that it is merely a precautionary measure taken by authorities considering Trump’s past actions calling out protesters during controversial events such as elections debates.

In response to his indictment announcement yesterday, President Donald Trump issued a statement calling it "political persecution" at "the highest level in history." He promised that he would defeat Bragg, President Biden, and "every last one of these Crooked Democrats."

As America awaits further developments regarding this case against former President Donald J. Trump rest assured we will keep you updated.
