Former AG William Barr Criticizes Trump's Indictment as Politically Motivated

Former Attorney General William Barr has accused Democrats of using the indictment of former President Donald Trump as a strategy to sink him in the 2024 presidential election. He dismissed the indictment as a politically motivated event and said it was a "pathetically weak case" that could further inflame divisions in the United States.

Trump is due to be fingerprinted and photographed in a New York courthouse next week, becoming the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges in a case involving a 2016 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Barr criticized the legal theory behind the indictment, saying it was 'pathetically weak' and claimed that Manhattan District Attorney's Office is 'going after the man, not a crime.' According to Barr, payments made by Michael Cohen on behalf of Trump were not campaign finance violations since they were an ordinary business transaction.

President Joe Biden declined comment on this matter but expressed confidence that Trump would plead guilty. However, Trump's legal team vowed he would never seek plea deals and fight all charges.

Barr accused Democrats of using law as political tools instead of upholding justice. The breakdown of rule-of-law in New York State concerns him because he believes Democrats are using this case for their political gain by helping President Donald Trump win GOP primaries in 2024.

Barr called this move an "abomination" while accusing DA officers for abusing its prosecutorial power with such weak evidence against former President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, ex-president Donald trump continued his allegations against democrats saying they have been lying and stealing from him for years now just because they want to get back at him.
