Nomura Holdings Inc (8604.T) has named Dr. Rudolf Hitsch as the head of North Asia for its international wealth management business. The newly created post will have Hitsch based in Hong Kong, where he will be responsible for overseeing client relationship management teams covering North Asia.

Dr. Hitsch brings with him over two decades of experience in the financial industry, with a focus on wealth management and private banking services for high net worth individuals across Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Nomura, he served as the Head of Private Banking at Deutsche Bank in Singapore.

Nomura's decision to create this new position reflects its commitment to expanding its core markets in Greater China, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Over the past two-and-a-half years, Nomura has hired around 50 private bankers for this unit.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Rudolf Hitsch said: "I am excited to join Nomura’s world-class team and lead our efforts in serving clients throughout North Asia." He further added that "Asia is a growth market for wealth management services driven by demographic trends such as rising affluence and increasing demand from entrepreneurs."

The appointment of Dr. Rudolf Hitsch is expected to strengthen Nomura's position within the competitive Asian wealth management sector while reinforcing its focus on providing exceptional service to high net worth clients across the region.
