First Lady Jill Biden Proposes White House Visit for LSU Women's Basketball Team

First Lady Jill Biden has proposed that the Louisiana State Tigers women's basketball team should be invited to visit the White House after their victory in the NCAA Tournament national title game against Iowa Hawkeyes. The proposal comes after both teams were embroiled in controversial trash talking that dominated sports talk for 24 hours.

However, fans have criticized the idea of inviting both teams, with one suggesting that only the winning team should get a WH invite and another suggesting setting up a court on the WhiteHouse lawn and playing a rematch. The White House has not yet responded to questions about President Joe Biden extending an invitation to Iowa or whether it would be separate from LSU.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey has said her team would go if invited, while Angel Reese, who was named Most Outstanding Player at Final Four tweeted "A JOKE" in response to ESPN's write-up on Jill Biden's remarks.

In her comments at Colorado state capital in Denver, First Lady Jill Biden praised Iowa's sportsmanship and congratulated both teams on their performance. She also expressed her desire for the defeated Iowa women's basketball team to be invited either together with LSU or separately.

Title IX was passed into law back in 1972 and ever since then there have been significant improvements made regarding women’s sports across America; something she marvelled over. However, there hasn’t been any immediate response from Iowa regarding this invitation.
