Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Leleksiy Danilov, has issued a warning to the West that the total collapse of Vladimir Putin's Russia has begun. Speaking at a conference in Kyiv, Danilov urged Western leaders to be on high alert for the fall of the Soviet Union.
Danilov also expressed concerns over China's growing influence in Russia. He stated that if the West allowed China to take territory in Russia during this time of crisis, it would create a new grave problem.
"China currently holds the upper hand over the Kremlin's imminent capitulation," said Danilov.
The top Ukrainian official spoke as Finland officially joined NATO today. This move secures its place in the Western alliance and strengthens its defenses against potential threats from Russia.
Furthermore, Danilov argued for renaming Sevastopol city – which has served as the main base for Russian Black Sea Fleet since 1783 – citing its historical ties with Ukraine before being annexed by Moscow-led forces during Crimea’s illegal annexation in 2014.
He suggested prosecuting Ukrainians who worked for Moscow-appointed administration in Crimea, and all real estate deals made under Russian rule nullified.
Danilov’s statements come amid rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia following an increase in ceasefire violations along their shared border. The situation remains volatile amid fears that Moscow may launch another military attack after massing troops near Ukraine earlier this year.
In light of these developments, Ukrainian officials have called on their Western allies to provide more support against what they see as Kremlin aggression towards not only Ukraine but other neighboring countries too.
As Danilov warned about Putin’s regime collapsing soon and China taking advantage of it, he also reiterated his country’s commitment towards enhancing security cooperation with NATO member states to counter any threat posed by Moscow or Beijing.
