A catastrophic explosion and fire occurred on Monday evening at the South Fork Dairy in Dimmitt, Texas. The devastating incident took the lives of approximately 18,000 cattle while leaving one person injured.

The cause behind this immense blaze remains unknown; however, it is believed to have originated from an explosion that spread rapidly to the building housing the cows before they were led into the milking area and holding pen. This tragedy marks the deadliest barn fire in Texas since 2013.

Multiple agencies and emergency crews are currently on site investigating and managing what has been confirmed as a multiple casualty incident. With several unexplained fires having struck food processing plants within the past year alone, concerns over safety protocols continue to rise among industry experts.
