The prestigious 2023 Health Care Leadership Awards were recently held, recognizing top health care professionals for their outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the industry. Among those honored this year were Dr. Thomas D'Amico of Duke Thoracic Surgery, Uma Kalagnanam from Duke University Hospital System, Dr. Micah Krempasky, Ryan Gibson of Carolina Healthcare Systems, and Raleigh Radiology's president and managing partner, Dr. Satish Mathan.

Dr. Satish Mathan was celebrated for his exceptional leadership in health care over the past two decades as well as his dedication to patients and communities served by Raleigh Radiology. He cited his wife as an influential figure in his professional life last year who keeps him grounded while maintaining a focus on always doing what's right.

"The needs of our patients and community are what drive me every day," said Dr. Mathan during his acceptance speech at the awards ceremony. "I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside my hardworking team members who share my passion for providing high-quality patient care."

Also recognized were other leading figures within North Carolina's Triangle region:

Each recipient expressed gratitude upon receiving their respective accolades while emphasizing how teamwork plays a significant role in their success.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized alongside such esteemed colleagues," said Uma Kalagnanam. "Our combined efforts as a health care community have led us to make meaningful strides forward, and I am excited about what the future holds for our industry."

Dr. Satish Mathan also expressed his appreciation for living within the Triangle region and how its smaller-city feel fosters a strong sense of community that has contributed positively to his professional life.

The 2023 Health Care Leadership Awards not only serve as an opportunity to celebrate these exceptional individuals but also shine a spotlight on the collective achievements made by dedicated professionals across North Carolina's health care sector. As each honoree continues on their path of innovation, they contribute significantly towards transforming patient experiences and improving overall community well-being for years to come.
