Russia Accuses U.S. of Orchestrating Alleged Drone Attack on Kremlin

Russia Accuses U.S. of Orchestrating Alleged Drone Attack on Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused the U.S. of being responsible for the alleged drone attack that briefly set the roof of the Kremlin on fire. Moscow has already blamed Ukraine for the strike and dubiously painted the incident as an assassination attempt on Putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier denied being behind the attack, but drones painted with Russian phrases including “for Moscow” and ‘for the Kremlin” rained down on Ukraine overnight in apparent revenge strikes all the same.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted Russia’s history of false flag attacks, before adding that she did not “want to speculate” about the Kremlin strike.

In response to these allegations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy firmly denied any involvement by his country in such an attack. He insisted that his nation's military forces were focused solely on defending their sovereign territory from ongoing Russian aggression.

Despite a lack of concrete evidence supporting Russia's claims, Moscow wasted no time launching retaliatory measures against Ukraine. The southern city of Kherson experienced a wave of drone attacks following this announcement which left multiple residential areas damaged and enforced a curfew throughout its duration.

Western experts have been skeptical regarding Russia's narrative surrounding this alleged drone strike at Putin's residence within Kremlin premises. Researchers from organizations like The Institute for Study War suggest it could be another example staged by Russia to justify further actions or incite popular support among domestic audiences.

Regardless, officials within both nations remain unwavering in their respective positions concerning responsibility over this disputed incident – each side denying any culpability while condemning one another fiercely amid worsening diplomatic relations between them.

As accusations continue flying between countries involved or allegedly involved in orchestrating this highly controversial act - whether true or fabricated - tensions are undeniably escalating across Eastern Europe; what long-term consequences will arise from this potentially explosive situation remains uncertain at present.
