The Avon Lake Community Council has proudly announced two winners for the 2023 Projects of the Year, recognizing Judy Kaminski and Mark Summers for their outstanding contributions to the community. The council also highlighted two winning projects: Ozone Garden & Kiosk, led by Kaminski; and Avons Lake PAL (Police Athletic League) and Bleser Park Basketball Court Renovation/Ron Warner, spearheaded by Summers.

According to Susan Poole, President of the Avon Lake Community Council, "These projects are not only valuable assets to our community but also showcase the dedication of our citizens in making a difference." Both initiatives have received accolades from residents who appreciate how these efforts have enriched their local lifestyle.

Judy Kaminski's Ozone Garden & Kiosk project provides an educational space where people can learn about ozone pollution and its effect on plant life. It offers interactive experiences that teach visitors ways they can contribute to cleaner air quality within their own neighborhoods.

On his part, Mark Summers has been instrumental in revitalizing Bleser Park through renovations at its basketball court. The collaboration with Avons Lake PAL brings together law enforcement officers and young athletes in building positive relationships while promoting physical activity among youth.

In addition to announcing these notable accomplishments, other upcoming events were shared with residents during this meeting. Among them is online registration for summer season membership at the popular Avon Eagle Swim Club which is now open for families looking forward to enjoying aquatic recreation during warmer months.

Avon Garden Club’s annual Spring Plant Sale will take place on May 20th from 8 a.m., showcasing a variety of plants cultivated by club members themselves. This highly anticipated event attracts gardening enthusiasts who are eager add new flora species into their home gardens or simply seek expert advice regarding horticultural practices. Plants will be available for purchase both at the event and online at Perennwebs.com.

As the Avon Lake community celebrates its 2023 Projects of the Year winners and looks forward to these upcoming events, it is evident that local residents take pride in their collaborative efforts. By working together to uplift one another and improve their surroundings, they embody a strong sense of unity that makes this town truly special.
