Toronto-based developer Craft, best known locally for their successful Mews on Butler townhouse project in Lawrenceville, is pursuing a multifamily housing development in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. The proposed project aims to transform the former site of the Irish Centre into a modern and sustainable residential complex.

The plan consists of constructing a 162-unit apartment building that incorporates contemporary design features and environmentally-friendly elements. Designed with community appeal in mind, this new development seeks to contribute positively to the ongoing revitalization efforts within the Squirrel Hill area.

James Thompson, CEO of Craft Development Corporation, shared his vision for this ambitious venture:

Local authorities have expressed interest in supporting projects that encourage urban growth without compromising green spaces or straining existing infrastructure. Councilwoman Deborah Gross commented on her support for responsible developments like this one:

In addition to its commitment to sustainable construction practices, the proposed apartment complex will offer several amenities aimed at fostering a sense of community among residents. These include common areas designed for relaxation or recreation activities such as swimming pools, fitness centers, co-working spaces as well as landscaped courtyards.

To address concerns about parking availability raised by local residents during initial consultations held earlier this year; provisions are being made within the development plans including underground parking facilities catering up to 200 vehicles.

Community members' reactions have been mixed so far concerning potential traffic congestion and the project's effect on local housing costs. However, Thompson reassured residents that Craft is dedicated to working with all stakeholders to ensure a positive outcome for everyone involved:

With its commitment to sustainable construction practices and innovative design features, Craft's proposed 162-unit apartment complex in Squirrel Hill promises not only economic benefits but also improved quality of life for current and future residents alike.

The project is still awaiting final approval from city officials before proceeding further; however, if granted permission to move forward, construction could begin within the next year – paving the way for another successful contribution by Craft Development Corporation towards shaping Pittsburgh's urban landscape.
