Actresses Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson have been confirmed to star in a new family comedy pilot at CBS, joining the already established comedic duo of Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. The untitled project gained a pilot order back in February, with Andy Ackerman set to direct and executive produce.
The show will revolve around an iconic talk radio host who leads a cheerful life alongside his wife, children, co-workers and friends. With such an amazing cast on board, this series is sure to be packed full of laughs.
Atkins is perhaps best known for her role as Dee Dee Thorne in the UPN sitcom Half & Half which ran from 2002-2006. She's also appeared on other popular shows such as Smart Guy, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Are We There Yet?.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been making waves recently after starring in BET's Boomerang reboot alongside Tequan Richmond. Her other acting credits include All Night (Hulu), Younger (TV Land) and Your Worst Nightmare (ID).
It's great to see two talented actresses like Atkins and Jackson getting an opportunity to work alongside some seasoned comedy veterans like the Wayans brothers. Fans can look forward to seeing this exciting new family comedy when it premieres on CBS later this year.
