A Missouri man is being hailed as a hero after he made a daring rescue during a flash flood. The man, whose name has not been released, was checking out rising river levels when he spotted an SUV caught in the water with someone trapped inside.

According to witnesses, the man sprang into action and waded through waist-deep water to reach the vehicle. Despite the fast-moving current and dangerous conditions, he managed to pry open the door of the SUV and pull out its occupant.

The rescued individual, who has also not been named, was reportedly shaken but unharmed by their ordeal. Emergency services arrived on the scene soon after and transported them to safety.

The incident occurred amid heavy rain and flooding that have been affecting parts of Missouri in recent days. Flash floods are particularly dangerous because they can strike suddenly without warning.

Authorities are reminding residents to be vigilant during such weather events and to avoid driving or walking through flooded areas whenever possible.

Meanwhile, social media users have praised the quick-thinking actions of the unidentified rescuer. One commenter wrote: "This guy is a true hero! It takes guts to risk your own life like that for another person."
