A tragic shooting incident has left six people dead, including three children and three adults at the Covenant School in Nashville. The shooting occurred early Monday morning when a woman opened fire inside the school premises.

According to reports, the shooter was identified as a former employee of the school. She entered the building with a gun and started firing indiscriminately, causing chaos and panic among students and staff members.

The police were alerted immediately after shots were fired, and they rushed to the scene within minutes. They managed to subdue the shooter after an intense standoff that lasted for several hours.

The injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, but unfortunately, six of them succumbed to their injuries. The identities of those killed have not been officially released by authorities pending notification of next-of-kin.

In a statement issued by Vanderbilt University Medical Center officials on Monday afternoon, they confirmed receiving five patients from Covenant School following the shooting incident. According to Dr. Oscar Dodek, Chief Medical Officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center:

“We received five patients with gunshot wounds from this morning’s tragedy at Covenant School this morning – two children and three adults. Despite our best efforts over many hours today treating these patients’ gunshot wounds or other serious injuries sustained from being shot or fleeing gunfire within seconds of it starting we are saddened to report that all five have died.”

Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy during these difficult times.
