Former President Donald Trump is set to be arraigned in New York on Tuesday, where he will face 34 felony counts, including falsification of business records. The charges are related to his alleged payment of $130,000 in hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 presidential election.
The charges suggest that Trump may have been attempting to conceal a crime by paying off Daniels. However, the former president has denied any affair ever took place.
According to reports, after his arraignment, a police arrest report will be filed into the court system before he is led into a courtroom for his arraignment.
While some have suggested that a mugshot could potentially be used against him politically by Democrats ahead of next year's elections, prosecutors have reportedly decided not to handcuff him or take his photo. He will also not be placed in a jail cell.
Trump has responded angrily on social media following news of the indictment being leaked by District Attorney Bragg. He faces further legal issues with three other criminal investigations currently underway against him - one federal investigation relating to efforts made after the 2020 election and two others also at federal level.
